AWARD NOMINATION!
May 29, 2009 The Winnipeg Arts Council is pleased to announce the nominees for the 2009 Winnipeg Arts Council Awards. 30 artists, arts administrators and patrons were recognized by their peers and nominated across the four award categories. A big THANK YOU to the Winnipeg Folk Festival (www.winnipegfolkfestival.ca) for nominating Sheena Grobb in the On The Rise category. Other nominees in the category include Michael Dudeck, Takashi Iwasaki, Freya Olafson, as well as sought after bassist Marie-Josee Dandenault and singer/songwriter Daniel Roa, who both join Sheena on her upcoming full length album playing bass and drums, respectively. Date with a Star is LDA Manitoba’s premier fundraising event. The event is unique, fun and fashionable and has raised over $150,000 for Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba. Sheena participated last year, and is joined this year by guests such as Fred Penner (musician), Doug Brown (Winnipeg Blue Bombers), and many other noteable names.
